A Few Notes from Your Show Secretary:
This being the second year for our club having the show date at the beginning of October. We know it is quite a struggle for most exhibitors to have their birds ready and in show condition. But with avian influenza hitting our area so hard, It looks like this date will be in the foreseeable future.
Even with the early date, we had some very good numbers of entries. 737 entries from 42 exhibitors.
On Friday, October 3, exhibitors arrived to coop their birds. We had exhibitors from Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC, and Washington state. Friday evening we had a beautiful light supper provided by Ken and Elaine Chatwin. One of the high-lights of our show is the exhibitors reception that they put on every year. Extremely thankful for all their hard work to put this lovely event on.
Our judges got to work at 9 AM Saturday. Orrie Moore from Washington State and Bob Pilchar from Manitoba, both are very experienced judges. We wrapped up judging at about 4:30pm. The judges picked the champions and we held that information until our Awards banquet held later that evening. We did announce the junior champions at the show hall and had the juniors ask the judges a few questions about their birds.
I want to thank all of the exhibitors, sponsors, my club board members, and all
of the people that came out to help set up and clean up our show this year.
