Show Report
Western Canadian National Show
October 30 - November 1, 2015
A Few Notes From Your Show Secretary:
Congratulations to Double V Lofts for winning Grand Champion Fancy Pigeon, to Ken Chawtin for winning Grand Champion Flying Pigeon, and to Marianne Harangozo for winning Champion Rare Pigeon at the 2015 Western Canadian National Show in Abbotsford, BC.
The show was once again held at the Ag-Rec building on the Abbotsford Fairgrounds October 30 – November 1. The building is well noted for its’ excellent lighting and facilities.
We had a total of 794 birds entered from 46 exhibitors, represented from 4 provinces and 2 US states. Our largest class was Helmets at 95, followed by American Rollers at 84. Both these breeds had sanctioned meets, which we are grateful for their participation.
The show started off Friday evening with Ken and Elaine Chatwin hosting the exhibitors reception. This annual event is sponsored by Ken’s company, Compass Cladding, and is always a pleasure to attend.
Saturday was a busy day, as we had Bob Nolan, John DeCarlo Jr, Dennis Manning, Lenny Mefford, Bob Sutherland and Mike Lopez assist with ensuring the judging was completed in time for awards banquet Saturday evening.
Saturday was also busy as Givo Hassko and Andy Hansen coordinated the live bird auction and cage bird show. The auction is a fundraiser for our club, and we thank those who donated and purchased birds. The cage bird show is a nice added feature, as it brings additional interest to our show.
Many thanks to those who helped with the show setup and tear down. This is always a busy task, but it went well. Special thanks to my wife Victoria who helped with managing the concession, banquet ticket and raffle ticket sales, I could not have done this without her help.
Thanks to everyone who showed with us again this year, hope to see you again at our next show.
